The family of Louie Francis Schaefer has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey.

It will be our honor to do so.

Louie was born in San Antonio, Texas, on 16 December 1936 and entered Eternal Rest on 30 September 2021.

In 1953, Louie proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army at sixteen and served during the Korean Conflict. Louie spent time with the 1st Cavalry Division and Honor Guard in Japan.  His awards/citations included the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Marksmanship Badge, and Sharpshooter Badge. In 1961, at his honorable discharge as a SP4 (E-4), Louie was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.

Louie met his wife of sixty-three years in Compton and was married on 22 January 1958.

Louie was a truck driver for fifty-five years until he retired at seventy-eight years old. He was a hard-working man who always provided for this family.

Louie enjoyed being a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and he single-handedly produced four generations of Cowboy fans in Southern California. He was also a proud member of the Landers Moose Lodge in Landers, California.

Louie is survived by his wife Frances, daughters Julie and Marian, and his son Mark. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to participate in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
