The family of ROBERT EUGENE TORGETT, 92, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country, county and city. It will be our privilege to do so.

Robert was born on February 3, 1929 and passed away at 92 years of age on December 29, 2022, of natural causes.  Robert joined the Army on September 25, 1926.  He was honorably discharged on January 12, 1948.  PFC Torgett was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal, Japan.   Mr. Torgett became a Sheriff in 1953 for San Diego County and he helped to fund the Silver Star Magazine (A Sheriff publication), as well as started the San Diego Retired Sheriff's Association.  He retired in 1978.  After his service, he became the Head of Security for Del Mar Racetrack and then started his own security firm.

Robert will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Fritzi Torgett.  He is survived by daughters, Rosa Rodriquez and Paula Morgan, and son, Mike Torgett.  He is also survived by four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the Hero and his family from the mortuary to the cemetery, approximately 15 miles. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
