Warren Harris, son of Senior Chief Boatswain's Mate Leroy E. Harris, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in honoring his father for his service to his country. It will be our honor to do so.
Senior Chief Harris enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and served until 1975, a period spanning three wars and thirty-two years.
Senior Chief Harris was involved in many naval operations in the Pacific during WWII including the invasion of Iwo Jima. He was also serving aboard the Baltimore-class cruiser USS Canberra, when she was torpedoed during the Aerial Battle of Taiwan-Okinawa. His naval career continued after WWII as he would serve his country during both the Korean and the Vietnam Wars.
In his civilian life Senior Chief Harris worked for the Los Angeles County Water Sanitation Department. For fun, he loved to play golf.
Senior Chief Harris is survived by his sons Paul, Russell and Warren, one daughter Patricia, six grand children and 10 great grand children.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date so there will be no interment in California. This mission is for a flag line only at the mortuary in Hemet.
