The family of U.S. Navy veteran and San Bernardino County Deputy Sheriff, Arthur “Art” Glover, have asked the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany Art from the mortuary in Pomona to Riverside National Cemetery and to be present at his memorial service. We will be honored to do so.
Art was 86 years old at the time of his passing. Art served this nation in the U.S. Navy and from 19 December 1955 to 19 October 1957. He served on the USS Salisbury in the China region. He was assigned to communications.
Art began his law enforcement career with the San Bernardino County Constable’s Office and eventually joined the Sheriff’s Department in 1980, after attending Basic Academy Class of 1979. After the academy, Art was assigned to the Sheriff’s Department’s Corrections System and then assigned to the Rancho Cucamonga Station where he worked several different assignments. Art retired from the Sheriff’s Department in 1991.
I knew Art and even though we never worked directly together we would socialize a bit. Art was also a very proficient as gunsmith and did some “tune-ups” to my duty gun, as well as other deputies. Art was a genuinely nice guy and one of those men you were glad to call a friend. He was also a very broad-shouldered guy and one you were happy to see roll on scene when things were getting ugly!!
Art is preceded in death by his wife, Carol. He is survived by two daughters, Toni and Kelly, one son, Ray, and several grandchildren. He is also survived by his extended family from the Sheriff’s Department as well as other friends.
