The family of CPO Francisco B. Docog, 93, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their Hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Frank was born in Bacon, Philippines, on July 24, 1928 and passed away peacefully on March 27, 2022, surrounded by family at the age of 93 years, having lived a long and full life.

In April of 1956 Frank enlisted in the US Navy and was assigned to San Diego, CA. His naval career would take him and his family to Washington DC, Virginia Beach, VA, and Subic Bay, Philippines. Frank also had unaccompanied tours on the USS America (CV-66), Okinawa, and Vietnam. While stationed in Vietnam as a Corpsman, he would assist Catholic Chaplains during Mass.

One Chaplain in particular, was near to Frank’s heart, he would later be Servant of God Fr. Vincent Capodanno, MM, who was Killed in Action and awarded the Medal of Honor. Frank was honorably discharged and retired after 30 years of service, in May 1986 at the rank of Chief Petty Officer.

After his military service, he worked for the VA Hospital in La Jolla in the dental department for another 15 years. Among Frank's many interests were bowling, cards, coin collecting, dancing, photography, and volunteering.

Frank had a servants’ heart, he was active in many civil and religious organizations. As a long-time parishioner at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, he would sing in the choir and serve on the pastoral council. Frank was a member of the Executive Lions Club, Fleet Reserve Association, VFW and a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was active in the Filipino American Community serving in leadership roles for several clubs like the “The Council of Philippines American Organizations of San Diego County.” Many travelers to San Diego would see him at the Traveler’s Aid station at the airport. For his selfless service, he would receive numerous congressional, state, and local recognitions and awards.

Frank is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maria, his 3 children Joel, Angelica and Bernadette, and 6 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson.  He is also survived by his four sisters, Bernabela, Cleofe, Conchita and Theresita, as well as many nieces and nephews he loved very dearly.

NOTE: This mission posting facilitates your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the Hero and his family from the mortuary to his final resting place. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. We will meet you there for those who would rather go directly to the cemetery.
