The family of Leroy Parker, 75, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the military honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey.  It will be our honor to do so.

Leroy Parker served in the USAF from 10/24/66 to 09/01/87. He was honorably discharged attaining the rank of SMSgt. In 1966 at the tender age of 19, and at the height of the Vietnam War, Leroy joined the United States Air Force and served two tours in Vietnam.  He served as an Aircraft Electrician Mechanic, Aircraft Electrical Systems Technician, and an Aircraft Accessory Systems Superintendent.  He received several awards and high recognitions related to his job duties.

In addition, Leroy was well decorated and received numerous medals and badges to include: Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with two oak leaf clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with one silver oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Longevity Service Award with four oak leaf clusters, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Training Ribbon, and Master Aircraft and Munitions Maintenance Badge.  Just to name a few!

Leroy worked for multiple aircraft companies doing contractual work for the government including McDonnell Douglas and eventually retired from Raytheon in 2016. In 2016 he began work for the Rialto Family Health Services as a Veterans Program Manager. He also volunteered for the Rialto School District.

His favorite past times included reading the newspaper, playing Sudoku, reading, learning new things, and sharing his knowledge. He also loved to BBQ and play the lottery.

Leroy is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Brenda; daughters, Karen Parker and J’Noie Parker, and sons, Christopher Parker and Michael. He is also survived by eight brothers and sisters and three grandchildren as well as many other extended family and friends.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, this is a flag line only (FLO) mission at Riverside National Cemetery. For those who would like to participate, please see the timetable and we will meet you there.

1300 - Await arrival of Hero in family vehicle and KSU to assigned cortège.

1330 - KSU to assigned shelter for flag line and military honors.

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
