The family of Jesus Jose de Garcia has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Jose, aka Jess, proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to1953. Jess was a SP3(T) Helicopter Mechanic and was stationed at the Presidio, San Francisco. He would be deployed to Alaska for 2-6 months at a time. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 207th Aviation Regiment at Fort Greely, near Big Delta, Alaska.

After his military service, Jess worked at Womack & Womack Chevrolet as an Auto Accessories Installer. He also worked for the Calexico Unified School District: Custodian, Bus Driver, and Custodian Supervisor and retired at age 55.

Jess enjoyed fishing and was very involved in youth activities. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth, played the trumpet in a band, and loved dancing with his wife. They entered many dance contests and won often. He especially loved watching his grandkids play sports (softball, baseball, soccer, chess, cheer, and women’s pro football).

Jess is survived by his son, Ernest Vega Garcia, and daughter, Jessica Vega (Davin) Brigman, daughter-in-law, Gloria Machado, grandchildren; Melissa (Chris) Gallegos, Irsula (Erick) Burnworth, Michaela Brigman, Tristan Brigman, Gloria Alicia Garcia, Robert Jr., (Sesie) Garcia, Jess Garcia; great-grandchildren; Jake, Nicole, Braydon, Kendall, Jojo, Janel Eloisa. Jess is preceded in death by his wife; Eloisa V. Garcia, and son; Robert V. Garcia

NOTE: This mission posting facilitates your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested and all PGR members are welcome, this will be a Flafline Only mission at the Calexico Cemetery.

The weather calls for temperatures in the 90s at the start of the service, with temps over 100 on our way home. If you want to ride your motorcycle, please dress for the heat and take plenty of water. Most of us will carpool from our staging point in Alpine. The family will not accompany the hearse from the mortuary. They plan to wait for the arrival at the gravesite. We will join the family, along with the Honor Unit, at the cemetery.

We encourage those who do not ride to participate in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, where you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor
