The family of Sgt Samuel Demers, age 25, and the US Marine Corps have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany their Hero from the funeral home to the airport as he travels home to his family in Massachusetts. We are honored to do so.
Sgt Samuel Demers was serving with Weapons Co, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines at MCAGCC in Twentynine Palms when he passed away of health related reasons. He had been a Marine for several years and had served on deployments in the Global War on Terror. He was very proud to be serving his country and even prouder to be a Marine.
Sam was from New Bedford, Massachusetts and he was a sports fan for all his home teams, Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics and Boston Red Sox, and the New England Patriots. He loved watching his teams and rooting for them and had also participated in sports growing up. He loved spending time with his friends and family, but most especially his wife and young daughter.
Sam is survived by his loving wife and best friend and his young daughter and many other family members, friends and his fellow Marines. He was a wonderful man, a great husband, father, and a loyal friend to everyone who knew him. He is dearly missed and will never be forgotten.
