The family of SPC Joshua Burks, age 20, and the US Army have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany their Hero as he arrives home to his family for burial.  We will be honored to do so.

SPC Joshua Burks was assigned to the 101st Airborne at Ft Campbell, Kentucky at the time of his passing.  He was a very proud paratrouper and looking forward to a bright future.

“Saturday morning, we lost a valued member of our formation. The entire team shares in the sorrow and grief felt by his family and loved ones,” said LTC Edmund A. Guy III, 2-44 ADA Battalion commander. “We must not forget the valuable contributions SPC Burks made to his country and the impact he had on those around him in our unit.”

Born in Visalia, California, on July 11, 2002, Burks enlisted in the Army from San Jose in 2020 as a signal support systems specialist, according to the 101st Airborne Division. In July 2020, he attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Upon graduation, he was assigned to Fort Gordon, Georgia, and attended signal advanced individual training in October 2020.  Burks was then assigned to A Battery, 2nd Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment – Fort Campbell, Kentucky, as a signal support systems specialist.

Burks’ awards and decorations include National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

SPC Burks is survived by many loving family members, friends, and his fellow Soldiers, he is deeply missed and will never be forgotten.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the airport to hand off to So Central Cal PGR at Frazier Park, approx 74 miles. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.

This mission involves an aircraft arrival. Arrival times can change at the last minute so please check this thread for any last minute changes before leaving.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
