Richard N. Cooke, 77, US Navy/Vietman - Santee/MNC - 24 October
« on: October 20, 2022, 03:18:26 AM »
The family of Richard N. Cooke has asked the PGR to accompany the family and Hero from Partridge Creek Mortuary to Miramar National Cemetery to his final resting place. We will be honored to do so.

Richard served in the US Navy Reserve for two years and was called up for Active Duty during the Vietnam War. For his last four years of service, Richard served in Air Transport Squadron Seven. After his service in the Navy, he remained serving our country as a steel worker forging 18" guns for Naval ships.  After that, Richard helped others as a substance abuse counselor for 32 years.

Richard liked to live life fast and hard, but in his off time he loved to forge knives and go to the gun range. He also collected war memorabilia from the Civil War all the way to the Iraq War.

Richard is survived by his son, Richard Cooke, Jr., a sister, and several other family members.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this military veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary to the cemetery, approximately 15 miles. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
