The family of Bobby Joe Spencer, which includes his brother John Spencer, our dear PGR brother, has invited the PGR to accompany this Hero to his final resting place, we are honored to do so.

Bobby served in the US Marine Corps from April 19, 1970 when he enlisted.  He was on his way to Vietnam when he and several other Marines were diverted to Okinawa and assigned shore duty there instead with the support troops.  He served until his honorable discharge on January 22, 1973 at the final rank of Corporal (E-4).

While stationed in Okinawa Bobby met a missionary group called Christians in Action. Bobby was a Christian and he fell in Love with one of the girls in the group, Lottie, his future wife. After the military Bobby and Lottie were married and they entered the mission field. They spent 25 yrs in Brazil where they started a bible school and a church which grew into several churches. Together they served many yrs in Columbia with Christians in Action before retiring in Visalia, CA.

Bobby is survived by his wife Lottie, sons Phil and Steven, brother John Spencer, sister Patricia Thomas and many nieces and nephews.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church to the cemetery, a distance of approx 1 mile. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. If you prefer to meet us at the cemetery we will see you there.
