The family of CW5 Mark Twigg of Barstow has requested the services of the Patriot Guard Riders in honoring their beloved husband and father on Tuesday, 29 November 22, to Riverside Ntl Cemetery. It will be our honor to do so.

He was born on 2-1-58 in Cumberland, Maryland. Upon he’s completion of high school he joined the US Army, He died 8 November 22 of cancer in Barstow. His son Duncan, who is serving in the Army in Kentucky, rushed home to be by his father and held his hand for 20 minutes before his father died.

Mark served in both military and civilian life with the Army.  CW5 Twigg was deployed to Grenada 1983 and Saudi Arabia 1990.He served 29 years in the military visiting a variety of posts including Ft. Bragg North Carolina, Nuremberg, Germany and Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, and Scoffield Barracks, Hawaii to name a few. He left the military, retiring in 2004 while stationed at Ft. Irwin, CA.

He then went to civilian life and went to El Paso, TX to work for the military before transferring back to Ft. Irwin. He was a Maintenance Supervisor by trade.

After retirement he enjoyed carpentry, home upgrades, and BBQ.

Our hero was survived by his wife Marina Twigg,of Barstow  and children Crystal Ferguson, Duncan Twigg, Courtney Kubik, and Dylan Twigg all of whom live in Kentucky.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary to the cemetery of approximately 90 miles. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

NOTE: Brian Zane will bring the procession down from the Mortuary to the Chevron Station, Billy Morgan will continue with the procession from the Chevron Station to RNC.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
