Wreaths Across America is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring and thanking our fallen soldiers for their service and sacrifice. The Wreaths Across America mission is to “Remember, Honor, and Teach.” Wreaths are placed on the graves of our Fallen Heroes by Patriots who know the sacrifice paid by these brave warriors and wish to recognize their service.
For five years now, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway has had a soft role in transporting the wreaths for National Wreaths Across America Day to be held on December 17, 2022 at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as more than 3,400 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, sea, and abroad.
Through a local BNSF locomotive engineer and Patriot Guard Rider, James Burrowes, the Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to accompany the JB Hunt truck and trailer as they transport the wreaths to Riverside National Cemetery (RNC) on Friday, December 16, 2022. Larry “Blaze” Medcraft was contacted to help with PGR logistics.
A locomotive will be staged along with the JB Hunt truck and trailer in the rail yard for a photo op with all participating motorcycles and cages before transporting the wreaths to RNC.
NOTE: This event posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring our fallen soldiers. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the JB Hunt truck and trailer from the BNSF rail yard in San Bernardino to Riverside National Cemetery, approximately 21 miles. Please see the timetable below if you would like to participate.
“WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA” WREATH TRANSPORT EVENT, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2022
• 0700 - Stage at 1633 West 5th Street, San Bernardino, CA, adjacent to Nunez Park and outside the BSNF rail yard. KSU to ride approximately five blocks to the entrance gate of the BSNF rail yard.
• 0715 - Arrive BNSF rail yard for photo op with staged locomotive and JB Hunt truck and trailer transporting wreaths to RNC.
• 0900 - KSU to RNC.
• Nate Manio, RNC assistant, will be awaiting our arrival at RNC.
• Once the delivery truck has been received at RNC and parked where designated, our participation in this event is complete.
