We have been invited by command of the 1-18th Cavalry, California Army National Guard, to attend and honor one of their own at his ceremony where he will be awarded the Purple Heart medal.

SGT Luis Bardales joined the U.S. Army in August, 1995. He served in various locations and was stationed in Bagdad, Iraq in 2005. On October 27 of 2005, he was severely injured by an IED while in combat.

He was honorably discharged, with the rank of Sergeant, in July, 2008, after a lengthy re-hab.

This will be a very rewarding mission as we don't often have the opportunity to honor our surviving, Wounded Warriors.  If you can attend, you will be enriched with the experience of honoring this Living Hero as we join in his Purple Heart Ceremony.

We will stand a flag line for SGT Bardales as he and his wife arrive at the Armory.  At the conclusion of the ceremony, we will accompany SGT Bardales to Irwindale Park (approx. 3 miles) for a reception. We will form a flag line at the park as well. We have been invited to attend the reception, although those who must leave can do so.

The weather is predicted to be hot please stay hydrated and don't forget to eat, it can make a difference with your ability to withstand the heat.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran
