The family of Daniel Francis Grady has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
Daniel proudly served in the US Navy from 1943-1947. He achieved the rank of Gunner’s Mate 2c. He served on the USS New Jersey (BB62) under Admiral Bill Halsey and Admiral Raymond Spruance. He also served on the USS Astoria. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Campaign Medal, and Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal w/9 Stars.
After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Daniel worked as was an aeronautical engineer for General Dynamics, a real estate broker, and a court reporter. He was an avid reader and collected a library of over 1,400 books, a chess player, teaching his grandson how to play, and he also enjoyed gardening. He was very active in his church, overseeing many devotional services.
Daniel is survived by his spouse, Alice Marie Kinney-Grady; three children; Denise Grady, Debra Grady, and David Waller. He is also survived by two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one sister, Elizabeth Schauerte.
