The family of William Arthur Lucas has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country.   It will be our privilege to do so.

Bill joined the Navy in June 1987 and was honorably discharged in Sept. 2005, as a E6 - FC1(SW) Petty Officer 1st Class.  Bill passed away at the age of 67. Cause of death was not service related.

During his service, Bill was aboard the USS Berkeley (DDG-15) from Nov 1988 - Oct 1992 and on the USS Wadsworth (FFG-19) from Aug 1998 - Jun 2002. He was in charge of teaching sailors how to take apart, clean, put back together and shoot certain guns. He has received medals including Expert Rifleman, Expert Pistol Shot, Bronze Navy Achievement Medal, and a Joint Meritorious Unit Award.

After leaving the military he started a pool cleaning business called Personalized Pool Care. Bill spent his spare time with his family and loved to go shooting in the desert.  In 2017 he joined a local “Hog Motorcycle Group” and became close with them really fast; he loved going on rides with them whenever there was an event.

Bill is survived by his sister Cathy Lanht, a daughter Amy Lucas and a son Joshua Lucas.

The family is asking the PGR to escort them from the family home to Miramar National Cemetery.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from his home to Miramar Cemetery, approx. 25 miles. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire while driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
