The family of GySgt Edward R. Hannan, (88) USMC has invited the Patriot Guard to accompany him to his final resting place. We are honored and proud to do so.

Edward enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served 21 years, 11 months and 27 days from 1951 to 1977. He attained the rank of E-7 GySgt at the time of his Honorable Discharge. Edward served 2 tours in Korea and 3 tours in Vietnam. His awards are numerous. Meritorious Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Presidential Citation, Vietnam Meritorious Citation, Vietnam Combat Medal, Pistol Sharpshooter Badge and Good Conduct Medal. At one point in his career Edward was to deploy to Iraq where he had 3 sons serving, fortunately the war ended prior to his deployment.

After his service to our country Edward worked at the post office. Edward enjoyed woodworking and he also enjoyed quilting and weaving.

Edward is proceeded in death by his wife Josephine of 57 years, his eldest son Rick and Daughter Cindy. He is survived by his spouse Hannah and remaining children, sons James, Robert, David, and daughter Kristie. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Note: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested and all PGR members are welcome. We will be accompanying the Hero and his family from the Church to the Cemetery, (approx. 5 miles). Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. If you prefer to meet the procession at the cemetery, please feel free to do so.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there, by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Riding in honor of our fallen brothers and sisters.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
