!!STAND DOWN!! per request from Family...

The family of Dewey Hodo, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero, for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Dewey served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1988. Dewey served in both Korea and Vietnam. He received many awards. His highest being a Purple Heart, he earned in Vietnam. Dewey was Very proud of his 36 years of service to our country and retired a Lieutenant Colonel.

After the military, Dewey opened his own flower shop here in San Diego, which kept him busy. Having more energy than most, Dewey found time to “tinker” around with several hobbies. One such passion was figuring out how to build golf carts that were solar powered. Once he ironed out the details, he sold several of the carts he created. Dewey loved harnessing the earth’s power and this enthusiasm took him around the world three times onboard his sailboat. On these adventures, Dewey stopped several times in China. On one of these stops, he met the owner of a restaurant who would become his wife, Yulan (Nancy). They shared an amazing life together. On another sailing adventure to China, they adopted a 10-year-old girl, Jing Lan. Dewey was the sturdy foundation that allowed both Yulan and Jing Lan to become successful here in America. Yulan earned her Master’s Degree and works for the San Diego County, assisting the elderly. Jing Lan is 26 now and has earned her Doctorate Degree. She is planning on joining the U.S. Air Force and follow in her father’s footsteps.
