The Patriot Guard riders have been asked by the San Diego County Public Administrators office to honor William Lowell Wilson for his service in the US Army.   It will be our privilege to do so.

William Lowell Wilson is an “Unclaimed” Veteran that has no known family or friends to attend his service. The deputy that has been involved in his case has asked to attend this heroes service and for the Patriot Guard to be present. Although this is a bit unusual, it makes it even more impactful to participate to honor this man.

William served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970 and served in the 2nd Battalion 61st infantry. His last orders had him stationed at Ft. Carson where he was honorably discharged. He received a Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Marksman Badge.

Because of the nature of this mission, we do not know anything about his personal or professional life after his time in the Army. We will need Pallbearers and Final Honor will carry our hero to the shelter.

NOTE: This mission posting facilitates your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will meet our hero at Miramar National Cemetery.  Please see the timetable below if you would like to participate.

Time Table for Monday 27 February:

0915- Stage at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire while driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
