The family of Noel Javier Talampas has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Noel passed away at the age of 88 of natural causes.

Noel joined the US Navy in 1954 and was honorably discharged in October 1974, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of service for our country.  Noel served in Vietnam.  He earned the National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Meritorious Unit Citation (Gallantry Cross), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Antarctica Service Medal with Bronze Clasp & Service Disc, and the Good Conduct Medal.

After his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, Noel worked for the San Diego City School District until he retired in 2000.

Noel maintained some of his Navy lifestyle by being the first one up in the house each morning, swabbing the deck, and having breakfast ready.  He enjoyed walking and actively walked five days a week.  He was also very mindful of his health.  He was very proud of his Naval career and never got tired of sharing his Navy experiences.  He loved to travel and visited many countries.  He and enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy each night.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patria; his sons, Alan and Noel Jr; and one granddaughter, Amelia.  He is also survived by his sister, Perla.
