Per the request of our good friends at Risher Mortuary and the family of Rojelio “Roy” Munoz, the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) have been invited to attend the military honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

Roy was born on 18 December 1924 in Dexter, New Mexico.

Roy, a few remaining of our “Greatest Generation,” proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946, which included combat during World War II. His MOS was Rifleman. As a Rifleman, Roy was assigned to a Combat Infantry Regiment in the European Theater and also served with a Military Police Battalion during the occupation of Germany. Roy was involved in the battles of The Rhineland Campaign and Central Europe. His awards/citations included the American Theater Ribbon, the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal and Combat Action Ribbon. He was issued a World War II Lapel Button. At the time of his honorable discharge as a PFC, Roy was with Company F, 276th Infantry Regiment, at Fort Bliss, Texas.

After the military, Roy was employed by the DWP for over thirty-five years. He held the position of a Meter Inspector.

Roy is survived by his wife, Dolores. (Note: Nancy from Risher is Dolores’ cousin)

NOTE: This mission posting will facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will accompany the Hero and his family from the mortuary to his final resting place. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. We will meet you there for those who would rather go directly to the Cemetery.

If you cannot accompany this Hero, please consider meeting us at the Cemetery entrance with a flag line as the Hero arrives.

NOTE: Please observe the latest “COVID-19” restrictions.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just those we honor.
