The family of Douglas Matson has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
Doug was 81 years old, when passed away of natural causes. Doug joined the Army in 1960 & was honorably discharged in 1963. He served most of his enlistment in Korea. He was awarded the National Defense Service medal & the good conduct medal.
After his military career, he went to work for the Bock Company for a short time & then went to work for San Diego Gas & Electric until he retired.
He is survived by his 2 children, Tracy Matson, and Brett Alan Matson, and one granddaughter.
His passions were boating, fishing, drawing, & painting. He loved animals, he was always trying to save animals. He also loved Birds which he fed very day.
The family is asking the PGR for a flag line only at Greenwood Cemetery.
NOTE: This mission posting facilitates your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be meeting our hero and his family at Greenwood Mortuary Park. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to participate in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, where you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire while driving a cage (car).
Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep the radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the one we are honoring.
