The PGR has been invited in a very exciting event to assist in the transfer of a Fallen Hero’s Cart from Alaska Airlines to its final destination.
The participation of the So Cal PGR will consist of an accompaniment from Bakersfield to Ontario and a Flag Line in Ontario as the Fallen Hero Cart is handed over to the participants of the Run for the Wall. RFTW will transport it with them to its final destination. The cart is being transported from Seattle, WA by ground transportation, and accompanied all the way by the PGR and other riding groups throughout Washington, Oregon and California.
Alaska Airlines formed an internal, all volunteer organization, “the Alaska Airlines Fallen Soldier Project,” to procure old luggage carts and renovate them. The group paints, decorates, and donates these carts to other International Airports to use as dedicated baggage carts to be used specifically for off-loading and transporting the remains of any of our Fallen Heroes. These carts are available for use by all airlines that transport our Heroes at the airports they serve.
The blue cart is adorned with American Flag curtains, military insignias and a red-carpet interior. This is to ensure the remains of a Fallen Hero are treated and transported with dignity and honor along their journey home to their final resting place. It’s the most visible component of the Alaska Airlines Fallen Soldier Program.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in accompanying this Fallen Heroes Cart. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the cart from Bakersfield to Ontario. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the destination we will meet you there.
