Carl Eugene Harstine was born on August 21,1925 in Warsaw, Ohio.
Carl enlisted in the Marines with his parents’ permission on his 17th birthday in 1941. He was sent to Parris Island in South Carolina for basic training. He was then shipped to California to join the 3rd Marine Corp Division.
Carl was involved with the invasion on the island of Guam, Bougainville Campaign, and was engaged in hand-to-hand combat with the Japanese at the age of 18. He received many awards, including the Marksmanship Award and the Asian Pacific Merit Award. His rank was Corporal at the time of his honorable discharge. Carl was discharged from the Marines in 1945.
As soon as Carl returned to civilian life, he married the love of his life, Louise, in 1946. Carl and Louise had two children, Judy and Steve. Carl was a construction carpenter. He also fell in love with making toys and furniture out of wood.
Preceding Carl in death was his wife who passed away in 2005 and his daughter, Judy who passed in 2019.
Carl's son Steve married Donna in 1984. They have two children, Mark and Katie. Carl is survived by his son Steve (Donna), his two grandchildren and their spouses Mark and Allison Harstine and Katie and Robby Bell.
Carl was blessed with four great-grandchildren: Mckenna Bell, Hunter Bell, Brynleigh Harstine, and Grayson Harstine

TIMELINE FOR TUESDAY, 16 MAY 20231400 - Stage at Rose Hills, 3888 Workman Mills Road, Whittier, Calif. Exit fwy on Rose Hills Road, take it to Workman Mills Road, turn right. Go down the road approximately 2 miles gate will be on your left side.

1415 - Mission briefing.
1430 - Accompany coach from the gate to the Church. Upon approaching the church, the coach will unload Hero at the back of the church. We will break off and proceed to the front of the church awaiting, military honors.
1500 - Celebration of Life for our Hero begins.
1600 - Flag line as Hero is brought out of chapel where military honors will take place in the quad. Once Military Honors are finished, we will be dismissed. There will be no graveside service.

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
