The family of Charles W. North has requested the So Cal Patriot Guard to pay Honors and to bring this Hero Home to his final resting place. It will be our distinct privilege to do so.

This request comes in from his son also named Charles North. He rode with the Patriot Guard in Lawton, Oklahoma and wondered if we could help pay final Honors to his Dad. So, he being a fellow PGR member we will show him how we take care of one of our owns, family.

Charles joined the Air Force in 1947 and stayed with them for 27 yrs., finally retiring in 1974 with the Rank of SMSGT. (E8) at March Air Force Base.

During his time in the service, he started his career at Sheppard AFB in Texas as a food service Airmen. He worked that field for several years running mess halls in several locations before crossing over to manpower and worked in this field until his retirement.

During his career Charles was stationed in Texas, Nebraska, Ohio, France, Italy, Virginia, Japan and retired in California.

Charles was awarded the following medals: Good Conduct medal with 3 OLC, National Defense Service Medal, Longevity Service Award Medal with 5 OLC, Marksmanship Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal.

Bill, as he liked to be called, married the love of his life Irene, and they were married for 63 years.

Bill loved woodworking and made many hand-crafted things for his family to remember him by. He also volunteered and did many projects for the Riverside ASPCA.

Bill leaves behind his Son: Charles W. North Jr.    Daughters: Shirley, Brenda,
Son in-Laws: Phil, David, 4 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in Death by his wife. The two of them will have their ashes buried together at Riverside National Cemetery, together.

These two will once again be joined together.

Note: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested and all PGR members are welcome. We will be accompanying the Hero and his family from the Funeral Home to the cemetery, approx. 6 miles. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. If you prefer to meet the procession at the cemetery, please feel free to do so.
