The Gary Sinise Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to American Heroes and is involved in many worthy causes benefiting military veterans.  The Patriot Guard Riders have been fortunate to be included in many of these events to include Hollywood Salutes Veterans, Soaring Valor, and the Snowball Express.

The PGR has been asked to attend a special event, “The Walls of Honor Ceremony,” for Jose Armenta, a combat wounded veteran, in Bonita, CA.  We are honored to do so.  The Walls of Honor Ceremony is where friends, family and other community members will join in on writing messages of gratitude, love, and appreciation on the walls of the specially adapted smart home that is currently under construction.

"On August 28, 2011, a typical Sunday for the unit, Jose and his platoon conducted a security patrol in an area known for being laden with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). As Jose searched for IEDs with Zenit, he stepped on a pressure plate containing over ten pounds of homemade explosives. “I woke up five days later in Landstuhl, Germany, and realized I had lost both of my legs above the knees.” He was then medevac’d to the United States where he underwent thirteen operations followed by the long process of physical rehabilitation.”

PGR will accompany Jose and his family to the home site for the wall signing.  Once there, we will stand a flag line.  If you wish to participate and meet our Hero, he is expected to meet us at our staging site and we can shake hands and learn how he is doing.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero.  For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the Hero and his family to the event location. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes.  No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.  Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum.
