The family of Zachory Jafus Harris has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
Zachory Harris, 73, served in the United States Navy 21 years and was honorably discharged at the rank of a Senior Chief (E8). During his time in the Navy, Zach received the following, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Navy “E” Ribbon (second), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (fifth), Meritorious Unit Commendation (third), and serval Letters of Commendation.
After serving for 21 years, Zach was Happy and Proud to simply retire and spend time with enjoying his favorite things in life, such as his family. He and his wife Virgie May raised 7 adopted children, all infants and from separate mothers. Although unfortunately one child, Maury, passed away at the age of 3 months old. Almost as big as Zachory’s love for his family was his appetite for Virgie May’s southern cooking. Virgie shared with me she won her husband’s heart through his stomach. His other passions were swimming, basketball, and all the sports his children were involved in.
Zach is survived by his wife, Virgie May, six children and eleven grandchildren.
