The family of Arthur Talbot Turner has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Art joined the Air Force in April of 1966 and was honorably discharged in April of 1972. During this time Art was stationed at an Air Force base that was under heavy attack by the Vietnamese. When he returned to the United States, he was stationed at Travis Air Force base and obtained the rank of Sgt (E4).

In his early years Art grew up in Virginia and loved horseback riding. He loved books and knowledge and was often seen late at night studying history or politics. A little later on he met his wife and love of his life at the restaurant “Bully’s” in Del Mar where Linda was a waitress. He soon asked her to marry him. Their oldest son Chris would turn this into a tradition and asked his wife Heather to marry him at the same restaurant his parents met.

Art was very proud of his children and bragged about them often, telling stories of their accomplishments. Art had many accomplishments of his own and went on in his civilian life to be a Master Electrician at NARF North Island for more than 25 years.  One of Art’s closest friends, Don Miller (one of our own Patriot Guards) was known to help Art many times through things and even offering him a place to stay at times. Art spent the last 15 years of his life living in Tijuana and loved engaging in conversations with neighbors and loved the Mexican culture.

Art will be laid to rest with his wife Linda at Ft. Rosecrans since Linda was a Navy veteran herself.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire while driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep the radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
