Carol Harris, the daughter, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor her father, Gary Goins, for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
Gary Dale Goins served his country in the United Stated Marine Corps from May 3, 1966 through June 13, 1969, 10 months of which was served in Vietnam. Gary was wounded in combat twice, and his commendations included a Purple Heart and a Certificate of Commendation. He also served in the USMC Reserves until he received his Honorable Discharge on August 6, 1973. At the time of his discharge Gary had attained the rank of Corporal.
In civilian life Gary worked as an Iron Worker for 20 years. After that he worked for the City of San Diego as Assistant Reservoir Keeper at La Mesa’s Lake Murray and at San Diego’s Lake Miramar. Gary worked for the City of San Diego for 17 years until his retirement. He also loved to play golf and to spend time with his family.
Gary is survived by his wife, Linda Jean Goins, siblings Curtis Goins, Diane Nigro, Carolyn Bogenholm, Arlene Scroggins and Bobbie Goins, two half brothers Doug Goins and Richard Goins, daughter Carol Harris, son Lenny Goins and 4 grand children.
