  • Harley riding grandma who loves Jesus!
The family of Delmer L. Sylvester, Jr., USN, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present as he makes his final journey to his resting place.  It will be our honor to fulfill their request.

Delmer, age 77, (known as Del by his close friends), enlisted in the United States Navy 22 August 1968 and was honorably discharged 24 October 1971 as an Electricians Mate 3rd Class (EM3).  He served on board the USS Frontier.

During his civilian life, he worked at Disneyland for 14 years then continued his career in the restaurant industry as an Area Supervisor, and General Manager for various companies for many years until he retired in 2015.  During his retirement, he worked part time at Legends Golf Club.

Del loved music, going to concerts, and country dancing.  His favorite bands were The Beatles, Eagles, Beach Boys, Jars of Clay, Mercy Me, and George Strait.  He also loved sports, playing softball, baseball, and basketball most of his life.  He also played as starting shortstop on the Navy softball team while stationed in Hawaii.  He was always an Angels fan, Rams fan, USC fan, and Lakers fan.  He loved to watch and play golf, and even scored a hole in one! Church and Jesus were above all as he loved to teach the Bible to his family and friends.

Delmer is survived by his wife Susan Sylvester; children, Steve Sylvester (Stephanie) and Cori Sylvester Vivanco; two granddaughters, Grace and Emma; and his sister Susan Messengale.
