The family of Reserve Firefighter Daniel Ramirez, age 67, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Volunteer Firefighter Ramirez served the Piru community for 31 years with Ventura County Engine 28.  Since the bylaws of the Fire Department do not provide an honor guard for our first responder, his sister Olivia (a veteran and Montana PGR Member) requested the SoCal PGR help honor her brother.

Besides volunteering for his local Fire Department, Danny worked with the Ventura County Parks where he became a Park Ranger (call sign: Ranger 4).  He also worked in Public Works for the City of Fillmore and for CalTrans until his retirement in 2019.  Around the community, he was known as “The Mayor of Piru” and once you met him, you were friends for
life.

Danny was an avid deep-sea fisherman and hunter.  His skills included being known as the best Grill Master of Piru to performing as a talented musician in several bands throughout the years.

Firefighter Ramirez is survived by his father Pablo; three children: Juanita Ramirez-Mendoza, Ide Ramirez, and Daniel Jr.; three siblings:  Maria, Olivia, and Argentina; seven grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Danny is preceded in death by his mother, Mollie; brother, Pablo; and two granddaughters.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this first responder.  For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church to the town center, approximately one mile.  Please see the time table if you would like to participate.
