The friends and family of Luis F. Aguilar have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their Hero, and ours, to his final resting place and attend his final military honors.
Luis was born in Mexico and immigrated to California. Luis graduated from Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta, California in the Santa Barbara School District.
Upon graduation from high school Luis went into the United States Army. He entered the Army in March 1977 and was discharged honorably on February 1980 at the rank of SP4. During his time in the Army, he earned the National Defense Service Medal and Expert Marksmanship with M-16 rifle.
Luis was always a caregiver at heart and always loved helping everyone. So, when Luis and Manuela met and eventually got married it was no surprise that his wife would become his Queen. They had two children, both girls, and they were his reason for living a great life and treated them all as Queens as well. They always traveled a lot together on trips and vacations to visit families in Mexico and friends all over the United States. Everywhere Luis went, the family went and that's the way life was going to be.
After Luis’ time in the Army, he went to work for Cowelco Steel Contractors in Long Beach as a fabricator. He rose to the rank of Support Manager where he filled that position for 42 years.
In his spare time along with his wife and children, they became life coaches, and led spiritual retreats together. Luis loved his family, and he also loved the Lord so everything went hand-in-hand when it came to treating others as he would want to be treated. He never had an angry bone in his body.
Later in life Luis was diagnosed with ALS, which would eventually take his life, His daughter said "even though he had this terrible disease he never once complained or blamed God for any of this.” He always said "I have had a good life.” Luis passed away peacefully into the open arms of the Lord.
Luis leaves behind his loving wife, Manuela, and his two daughters, Veronica, and Perla. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church to the cemetery, approximately 20 miles. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
