The family of DOUGLAS ALAN PLUMHOFF, UNITED STATES AIR FORCE, SGT, UNITED STATES NAVY RESERVES LTJG, RIDGECREST POLICE OFFICER/DETECTIVE RETIRED, NOVEMBER 25, 1955 – MARCH 17, 2024, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany their HERO to Desert Empire Fairgrounds, Ridgecrest for services, HONORS, and a celebration of life on SATURDAY APRIL 13, 2024. We are Honored and privileged to accompany him and his family.
Douglas Alan Plumhoff was born on November 25, 1955, in Muskegon, Michigan and passed away on Sunday March 17, 2024, with family by his side. Doug enlisted in the Air Force on January 4, 1978, serving as an Inventory Management Specialist. Immediately following his discharge from the Air Force on November 24, 1981, he entered U.S. Navy Officer Candidate School in Rhode Island. Upon completion of OCS, earning his commission as a Supply Corps Officer, he graduated at the rank of LTJG. He concluded his Naval Reserve career on September 30, 1986, Honorably Discharged as LTJG. On March 23, 1987, he began his career as a Ridgecrest Police Officer where he spent the next 30 years serving his community. He retired from the Police Force as a Detective, on March 3, 2011. Doug volunteered and spent most of his life in community service, helping others and dedicating many hours of his time to the Ridgecrest Women’s Center and so many other organizations.
Doug graduated High School in 1973, married in 1976 and became a Dad in 1977, son Daniel. He became the first school Resource Officer, enjoyed family trips, fishing, telling jokes, watching tv Adam-12, Dragnet and Hawaii 5-0 among his favorites. He enjoyed shooting air rifles and hanging out with his dogs and cats.
A private family service will be held at Holland and Lyons Mortuary, Saturday April 13, 2024, from 12 noon to 1 pm, from 1 pm until 2 pm public services will be held. At 2:30 pm a procession will leave Holland Lyons Mortuary to Desert Empire Fairgrounds, Sage Hall, for a celebration of life to include Military and Police HONORS at 4 pm. Immediately following HONORS PGR/RPD will process in return to Holland and Lyons. The Celebration of Life will continue until 10 pm and PGR are invited to attend. See detailed Timetable below.

1430 – KSU – To Desert Empire Fairgrounds, Sage Hall, 520 S. Richmond St. Ridgecrest, CA 93555.
1455 – ARRIVAL -
1505 – FLAG LINE – for dignified transfer of HERO from coach to Sage Hall. RPD Pallbearers.
1600 – MILITARY AND POLICE HONORS/FLAG LINE - For dignified Transfer of HERO from Sage Hall to coach. RPD Pallbearers.
1630 – KSU – Return procession to Holland and Lyons Mortuary. PGR with RPD Escort.
1645 – ARRIVAL -
1650 - FLAG LINE – for dignified transfer of HERO from coach to chapel. PGR Pallbearers.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire while driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep the radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
