The family of David Charles Franklin Couchman has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
David proudly served in the US Marine Corps., from Oct 1955 to Sept 1958. David entered the Corps 31 Oct 1955, Platoon 291. Entered Sea School 31 Mar 1956 through 08 Jun 1956, Platoon 8.
Sailed two tours on U.S.S. Wasp (CVS-18) for almost half of his active-duty time as a U.S. Marine.
First sea tour after Sea School, sailed from the Equator to Boston Mass while rounding the Straights of Magellan earning Domain of Neptunus Rex and Realm of the South Wind plaques issued by CAPT R.C. Needham.
Second sea tour, sailed the North Pole earning the Realm of the Arctic Circle plaque from CAPT H.T. Utter.
David worked 25 years for the City of Monrovia in the Water Department and later as a draftsman for the City Planning office. After retirement David went back to work for Rick Engineering, in San Diego, as the building maintenance person for an additional 12 years.
His hobbies were Scouting baseball, traveling and his faith in God. He was a long time League team manager and or coach. In the early 60’s he played in the City of Monrovia Parks & Recreation fast pitch summer softball league. On 09 July 1968 he threw a no-hit game. David was a season ticket holder to the San Diego Padres from the mid 90’s until 2020 & was a Founders Club Member when the team moved to Petco Park. His travels took him all over the world as a U.S. Marine. After leaving the Corps, he enjoyed traveling the U.S. and Canada by station wagon & trailer with the family. He traveled to Maui, Hawaii many times with his Rick Engineering family and lived his dream by traveling to Israel.

We encourage those who do not ride to participate in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, where you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
