The family of Billy Jack Finks invites the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in his military honors.  It is an honor to accept this invitation.

Billy Jack fink was born on Oct 15, 1924, in Dallas, Texas.

Billy enlisted in the Army Air Force on 8 FEB 43 and trained as a Machine Gunner.  After training he was assigned to the 455th Bombardment Group where he flew missions on D-Day; Rome-Arno Campaign; South and North France; Rhineland Offensive; Northern Apennines and was shot down during air combat over the Balkans Sea where he was awarded the Purple Heart. (Billy refused the Purple Heart because he did not feel he deserved the honor). Billy’s brother, Norbert Finks died in the Pacific during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Billy was honorably discharged 20 OCT 45, at the Rank of Technical Sergeant. Billy enlisted in the Air Force Reserves and was subsequently called to active duty and served from 1950 to 1952 in the Korean War.

Billy’s awards included European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with 7 bronze Stars; 15th AF 44 with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters; Distinguished Unit Badge, Air Medal; Good Conduct Medal.

After Billy’s distinguished military service, he worked for Douglas Aircraft for 10 years, and North America Aircraft (Rockwell) for 30 years.  After his retirement he volunteered at the Burns Senior Center and Weingart Senior Center for 12 years.

Billy enjoyed riding his Harley, bicycle, garage sales, collecting and repairing machines, camping, Rubik’s Cube, watching old movies and reading books.

Billy Jack Finks, passed away on 04/02/2024, at the age of 99.

Billy Jack Finks is survived by his son, Steve Finks; Daughter in law Kristy Finks; Daughter, Gale Hamouni, and Son in law Mike Hamouni. 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was married to his wife, Adeline Finks for 67 years.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to participate in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, where you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire while driving a cage (car).

Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep the radios off and engine noise to a minimum.
