UPDATE: NOW AN ACCOMPANIMENT/TIMETABLE CHANGE

The family and Friends, and Risher Mortuary, have asked the Patriot Guard to Honor this American Hero that was a United States Marine. It will be our honor to accompany this Hero to his final resting place.

Herbert Crump, "Herbie" as he like to be called Joined the United States Marines on November 22, 1961, and proudly served until August 31, 1966.

While in the Marines Herbie suffered a serious physical disability as a result of injury during his time in the Marine Corps, but he would never complain about it or want any sympathy.

At his completion of his service with the Marines he received his Honorable Discharge at the rank of Lance Corporal. During Herbies time he obtained the National Defense Service Medal, and his Good Conduct Medal.

As a child, Herbie grew up with his mother and sister in Mexico where he learned to speak and read Spanish fluently. He embraced the Hispanic culture of cultivating relationships with others and developed a very strong work ethic.

Herbie met the love of his life, Esther, while he was healing at the VA hospital. At the time he was shooting pool for a living. Although it wasn’t love at first sight, and it took another two years before he asked her out, they’ve been together ever since.

After Herbies time in the military, he and his wife Esther built a thriving plumbing business together and Herbie passed his knowledge on to his son Rick who is now following in his father's footsteps.

Herbie was a plumber of over 45 years and his son is carrying on the family tradition.

Herbert “Herbie” Crump passed away on June 5, 2024, at the age of 80, in his home in Norwalk, California. Herbie stayed strong until he passed from heart failure.

Herbie is survived by Esther, his daughter Brenda, and his son Rick. He was Grandpa Herbie to his four grandchildren Kristen, Chance, Gavyn, and Sydney.
