The family of Jack W. Arnold, Jr, Vietnam Veteran and Purple Heart recipient has requested the PGR’s participation in our hero’s committal service as he is laid to rest at Miramar National Cemetery. We are honored to fulfill the request.

Jack served in the United State Army and was discharged at the rank of Sergeant. Additionally, Jack was awarded the: Good Conduct, National Defense, Republic of Vietnam Service, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign medals.

Due to the wounds Jack sustained in combat, following his release from Walter Reed Army Hospital, he was medically discharged from active duty.  While Jack was serving in Vietnam his own father was killed in a coal mining accident. Jack was granted emergency leave. He was then offered a discharge due to the extenuating circumstances as Jack was
the only son. He opted not to take the discharge and returned to Vietnam.

His family only became aware of this story after Jack passed away. A close friend of Jack’s shared the story with his daughter, Melissa. After his medical discharge, Jack was in a severe car accident sustaining a brain injury and became permanently disabled.

Jack liked to play cards, do word search books and he smoked and collected pipes.
While Jack lived his entire life in Lewisburg, West Virginia, His daughter Melissa has elected to have his cremains interred at Miramar.
