The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of Lawrence Daly to attend Final Military Honors of their Hero. It will be our privilege to fulfill their request.

Lawrence enlisted in the United States Army in May of 1956 after his high school graduation. He took the oath of enlistment along with several of his high school friends. At the time of his Honorable Discharge, in 1961, he was a SP4 E-4 (T).  He served at Fort Benning and had assignments in London and West Germany with Hq Co 2d BG 1st Infantry. ARMY-RA-AMEDS. Our hero was a medic. Lawrence travelled to Europe via the troop ship USS George M. Randall that was escorted across the North Atlantic Ocean by Navy submarines.

Following his military service, our Hero worked at TRW in top secret technical jobs (CIA). He retired from TRW AEROSPACE in 1992 after 32 years. He had a passion for the military. He also had a passion for genealogy and  spent 50 plus years digging up Irish roots re: the Daly's. The last 13 years of his life were spent in Ireland expanding his contact with his ancestral family. While there in County Galway, he met and married Patricia Ahearne, a distant cousin .

Lawrence is survived by his eight children: Ellen, Kathleen, Lawrence Jr., June, Eileen, Sean, Austin, and Theresa. He was the proud Grandfather to 18 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded by his wife, Patricia. Our Hero passed while living in Ireland and his cremains were transported back to Southern California to honor his request to be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery.

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission.  All PGR members are welcome.  We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes.  No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.  Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit.  Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground.  Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
