The family of Ricardo R. Nolasco, 96, have invited the Patriot Guard Riders accompany their hero to his final resting place. It will be our honor to fulfill their request.
Richardo was born to Viviano and Carlotta Nolasco in Albuquerque, NM. The family eventually migrated to CA. He graduated from San Pedro High School in 1945 and then entered the Navy, serving on Guam for almost two years. His duty assignment was the fuel division. His in-service education was storekeeper school. He was honorably discharged in 1948. He received the Good Conduct Medal.
After his discharge from the Navy, Ricardo moved to Tehachapi, owned a grocery store, then moved to Orange County where he opened a hardware store and became a painter. He then moved to San Pedro and became a paint contractor. Subsequently, he moved to Lone Pine where he was able to enter his daughter into a special education facility. Successively, he returned to San Pedro for a short time but decided Tehachapi was where he wanted to live out the remainder of his life. In 2008, Ricardo moved back to Tehachapi. In Tehachapi, Ricardo owned a Mexican restaurant. He also worked as a paint contractor. He eventually retired from painting in 2009.
Ricardo was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in 1980 and served all offices. He was very proud when he was awarded his fellowship. He continued to serve the Moose until they closed in 2014. He was very involved in the Mountain Festival through the Moose Lodge, one year selling the most tickets. He served the Tehachapi Search & Rescue as well. Ricardo was well known in Tehachapi for many years. He loved living here and serving his community.
Ricardo is survived by his wife of 14 years, Virginia, and will be missed by his children Maria, Kathy, Cath, Ricardo Jr., and Michael. He will also be missed by his sisters, Beatrice and Geraldine, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
