Arthur F. Miranda, 87, USMC & USN - Apple Valley - 15 Nov
« on: November 10, 2024, 07:14:53 PM »
The family of Arthur F. Miranda (87) have requested the Patriot Guard Riders to attend his funeral services as he is laid to rest.  It will be our honor to do so.

Arthur served in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy.  He served four years in the Marines as a 0311 Rifleman from 1953 to 1957, where he earned the rank of Corporal, and then upon his expiration of his Marine service joined the Navy as a Seaman from 1958 to 1959.  During his service in the Navy, Arthur was injured which resulted in him being medically discharged.  Arthur was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

After his military service, Arthur worked as a form setter for 30 years and then as a custodian.  Growing up, Arthur played marbles and was in fact a marble champion.  As an adult, he enjoyed fastpitch softball and playing horseshoes.  Arthur was also known as an accomplished harmonica player.  He also enjoyed some wind therapy on his Harley.

Arthur was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; children, Arthur Jr and Loretta; and brothers Edward, Ernie and Carl.  He is survived by sons, Alex and Andrew; daughters, Marina, Evelyn, and Desiree; and three sisters, Silvia, Cecelia, and Christina.  He will be missed by 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this military veteran.  For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, this is a flag line only (FLO) mission at Sunset Hills in Apple Valley.  For those who would like to participate, please see the timetable and we will meet you there.

I ride in honor of Elizabeth Holguin, Gold Star Mother of LCpl David Espinoza, USMC, Kabul 13.

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission.  All PGR members are welcome.  We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our heroes.  No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.  Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum.  Observe the 15 MPH speed limit.  Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground.  Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
