The family of PO1 Melvin Lowery has asked the Patriot Guard to participate in the memorial service for their loved one and to honor this American Hero, we are honored to do so.

Mel served 3 years in the US Army.   Served 4 years in the US Air Force.  Served 13 years in the US Navy.  He fought in WWII, Korea and Vietnam and received National Defense Service Medal w/ Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (Third).   He served as Flight Crew Plane Captain Ground School, C-131 F Ground School & Simulator Instructor, Aircraft Maintenance including QH-50C Airframe Class “C” Maintenance, HSS-1 Maintenance, QH-50C/D Airframe & Engine Difference Training, T50-BO-4/8A Gas Turbine Engine Class “C” Maintenance, Survival, Escape & Evasion, EC-121K Power Plants & Related Systems Maintenance. 

Mel retired at the rank of Petty Officer First Class.

Mel held various jobs after retiring from the Military.  He loved to play golf and was very active in the Elks Lodge; he was Exalted Ruler of the Lodge in 86-87.  He was extremely well liked by all who knew him.

Mel is survived by his wife, Kaye, Daughter Bonnie, Step-Daughter Sandy, Grandsons Kevin, Garrett and Brandon and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be at Elks Lodge #1812 , El Cajon on Saturday, 27 SEPT @ 1300.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
