The 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, the "Magnificent Bastards", are still deployed and will not be home for the Holidays. The unit has arranged to have Santa visit the children and spouses of the unit, and have asked the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany the fire truck Santa will be riding on.
Since the PGR has been doing send offs and welcome homes for this unit for many years, we would be honored to be there.
We will enter the Cristianitos Rd. gate where we will be minutes away from our final destination. We will accompany the truck and Santa to the area where about 50 children and 30 spouses are expected to meet us.
The Family Readiness Officer for this unit, Mark Sperling is planning on giving each family a grocery bag/box full of food. We will be assisting in any way possible to make sure these families of our heroes have a great day.
Refreshments will also be available for us, but the FRO Mark, needs to know how many are coming to make sure they have the right amount of supplies. Please RSVP to either Peggy Kane pkane4socal@aol.com or Mike 'Joker' Courtright mokynanapo@sbcglobal.net so we can get a count.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring the families of our Heroes. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying Santa on a fire truck a short distance. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.
