The family has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one, David A. Gerberding, as he makes his final journey.
It will be an honor to do so.
David was born on 07 May 1945 and passed away on his 76th birthday, 07 May 2021
David was in the U.S. Army from June 1962 to June 1965 and from September 1965 to September 1968. David served six years of active duty. He received his training at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He served in the Korean DMZ and at Homestead Air Force Base, Florida. He was honorably discharged in June 1965 and re-enlisted in September 1965 in Coral Gables, Florida. His specialties included Electronics Warfare Equipment Repair with Security Clearance. David was honorable discharged from Fort Huachuca, Arizona as a Specialist 5 (E-5) in 1968.
After leaving the Army, David moved to California where received his Associate of Arts Degree in Computer Science. David had a very impressive career in Project Management, Engineer and Commissioning Engineer until 2019.
David enjoyed time connecting with others through ham radio.
David married Vicky in August of 1991 and would have celebrated thirty wonderful years together this year.
David is survived by his wife Vicky, his two sons, Ken and Michael (Army Veteran). He also leaves behind a stepdaughter, Valerie, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He had one stepson, Richard a Navy Veteran, who predeceased him.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the family residence to his final resting place. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
If you cannot accompany this Hero please consider meeting us at the entrance of the Cemetery with a flag line as the hero arrives.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.
